Spectrum Art Annual Every now and then I submit a couple of works to the Spectrum Art Annual each year. This is what they say about themselves:
This year I'm submitting two entries, and of course I'm late! It's Jan 4th 2007 and the deadline is Jan 26th, 2007. My biggest problem is deciding what to submit. It's not that they are all good and I have so many to choose from, but rather the opposite. I can't find anything "good enough" (in my own mind). The two I'm submitting are book covers. One is an "alternate" cover that never made it, the other is currently being used as is. Again, I'm sorry about the watermarks.
The one on the left is called "3015" and is a combination of pen & ink and digital, while the one on the right is purely digital and is called "Warrior Girl - Darkest War". OK, I admit, I like to put a pretty girl in my art work whenever possible! What I like about these two images is (the one on the left) reminds me of a graphic novel. The figure at the top and the ledge have very little detail compared to the landscape. It's almost mono-chrome with a third color thrown in to pull it into the background. Concerning the one on the right? Well the girl naturally, but I also liked the planets. Especially the exploding planet which is "hand-drawn" using photoshop. What's striking about this particular cover is the detail found in the girl's face, click the image and you'll be taken to a larger section. You'll see what I mean.
